Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has vowed to prioritize improving the quality of life and socio-economic status of Rivers people rather than engaging with detractors.
Amidst an ongoing conflict with his predecessor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over control of the state’s politics and resources, Fubara emphasized his commitment to higher leadership standards.
Speaking during the official kick-off of the Okania-Ogbogoro Road project in the Obio/Akpor local government area on Friday, Fubara addressed the distractions posed by his critics.

“I have only one request: that you continue to conduct yourselves peacefully in the face of all the assaults.
They want us to miss our goal; they want to distract us,” Fubara stated. “If we fight with them, we will be wasting our energy. So, what we need to do is continue to do that thing which we have promised our people.”
Fubara outlined his leadership approach, aiming to set a standard that prioritizes the needs of the people.
“Our style will be to set a standard that will be above them so that when they come, they will see what we are doing.
Everybody will be seeing it that it is about the people, and they will say ‘but they are working for the people’. So, that will be our style of leadership.”
Fubara’s remarks highlight his administration’s focus on development and public service amidst political tensions.
