Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC) in 2023, has accused Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State of plotting to kill Joe Ajaero, the National President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).
Sowore urged the Nigerian Legislative Council (NLC) to suspend operations in Nigeria until Uzodinma is removed from power.
It’s important to remember that a group of troublemakers thwarted the NLC’s demonstration in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.
The president of the National Labor Congress (NLC) was in Owerri to organize workers in the state of Imo for a massive march of protest in the state over a claimed violation and abuse of the rights and privileges of workers by the administration of Imo state.
Ajaero was taken away by members of the Nigeria Police Force as a result of the violence that broke out while the event was going on.
The Nigerian police soon denied detaining Ajaero in response to outrage from certain Nigerians, saying that the NLC president was brought into jail following an attack on him rather than arresting Ajaero himself.
As a response, Sowore published the following statement on X: “This barbarism is unacceptable, @HopeUzodinma sent thugs to assault and possibly assassinate @NLCHeadquarters President Joe Ajaero.”
“The @NLCHeadquarters ought to shut down the country until the Governor of Imo State and his thugs are removed from office,” said one user on Twitter. “The situation is getting out of hand.” Hashtag: “#RevolutionNow”
