Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has come out to say that it is rare for strikers to pass up a penalty kick in a final. This is coming after Erling Haaland allowed Omar Marmoush to take the penalty awarded to Manchester City vs Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final.
According to him, Haaland just proved how he is nowhere close to goal scorers like Messi and Ronaldo, because both players will never give up such an opportunity to score one more goal.

Rooney added that such mentality is what separates the Argentine and Portuguese icons from footballers like Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.
His words, “Erling Haaland is a world-class forward, but when we’re talking about Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, there’s no way they’re giving that ball away.
That’s what separates them two players from Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe and these players. They are selfish and they want to score every game.
When he [Haaland] misses chances I think you can see it gets to him and it does affect him. Maybe the thought of taking a penalty at Wembley might have been too much for him. You never know; he’s a human being.”
WOW.
Erling Braut Haaland is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Premier League club Manchester City and the Norway national team. Considered one of the best players in the world, he is known for his speed, strength, positioning, and finishing inside the box. Haaland holds the record for the most goals scored by a player in a single Premier League season, with 36.
Haaland was born on 21 July 2000 in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, as his father Alfie Haaland was playing for Leeds United in the Premier League at the time. In 2004, at the age of three, he moved to Bryne, his parents’ hometown in Norway.
Along with playing football from an early age, Haaland took part in various other sports as a child, including handball, golf, and track and field. He also reportedly achieved a world record in his age category for the standing long jump when he was five, with a recorded distance of 1.63 metres in 2006.
