The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Hadiza Bala Usman has yesterday defended the Nigerian Port Authority’ 2021 budget before the Senate Committee on Marine Transport during the Senate plenary held yesterday.

The Managing Director stated that the NPA’ 2021 budget is high because the Nigerian Port Authority lost over #1 billion during the EndSARS protests in October. She said that the NPA properties were vandalised during the protest and the authority has spent about #807 million to rehabilitate the affected part of the authority’ building.

According to her about 27 cars were burnt and 3 cars were stolen. She stated that the amount that will be spent on buying the 27 burnt cars and the 3stolen cars is separate from the amount that will be spent on repairing the building.

While speaking she stated that about 317 computers and photocopiers were looted. She reiterated that the amount required to replace all the looted items is more than #1 billion.
