Manchester United on Thursday, May 18 held their End of Season Awards which was attended by their first team stars and manager Jose Mourinho.
Paul Pogba, Wayne Rooney, Antonio Valencia and their teammates were all dapper in suits for the end of year bash.
At the awards, Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera was named the Player of the Year award named after Matt Busby which was voted by fans.
“It is very special for me to win this award because when you see the list of the winners you realise how important it is… and because I stop the record of David [de Gea] and because the trophy stays in Spain as well,” Herrera said.
Valencia who had a fine season as a right back was voted the Players’ Player of the Year.
“It is all about working hard. I am grateful for the manager’s words. I am also very grateful for the support of the fans and on this occasion my team-mates who have backed me all the way on this.”
Jimmy Murphy was named Young Player of the Year while Axel Tuanzebe won the Reserve Team Player of the Year award.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan picked up Goal of the Season award for his ‘Scorpion Kick’ goal against Sunderland on Boxing Day.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo and Ashley Young were all absent from the awards’ night due to injuries while Anthony Martial did not attend for an unknown reason.
