A 20-year-old Akwa Ibom native, Uduak Akpan has been arrested over the death of Hindy Umoren; a job seeker who went missing.
A couple of days ago, it was reported that a Nigerian lady identified as Hindy Umoren went missing after she went for a job interview.
Meanwhile, the lady has now been found dead and buried in a shallow grave.
Spokesman of the Akwa Ibom Police Command, Odiko MacDon confirmed the development. The Police PRO disclosed that the suspect had owned up to the crime; adding that he had lured the victim to his house under the guise of giving her a job.
However, he had ended up sexually and physically assaulting her, leading to her death. Thereafter, he had dragged her remains and buried her in a shallow grave in his father’s compound.
On April 30, the story of how a woman with the handle @Umohuduak1 took to Twitter to raise an alarm over the disappearance of her friend; Hindy Umoren, who went for a job interview was shared across several platforms.
According to Umoh Uduak, Iniobong was invited for an interview at an undisclosed location along Airport Road, Uyo; the Akwa Ibom state capital on Thursday, April 29. She said about two hours later, she reportedly received a frantic phone call from Hindy.
She was heard screaming before the call was abruptly ended; adding that her phone line has been switched off ever since. Read here.
Giving an update this morning, Uduak said Hindy was raped, killed, and buried.
”They have finally killed me. Jesus Christ.
“I’m dead.
“They killed my friend and they buried my friend. She only went to look for a job. Jesus Christ.
“They raped and killed my friend,” she lamented.
Umoren’s death has sparked reactions on Twitter as many Nigerians condemned her killing; while at the same time also speaking out against fake jobs, rape, and violence against women.
