With the adjournment of plenary until September, the House of Representatives has officially begun its annual recess.
After convening the House Standing Committees on Thursday, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas declared a recess.
For the tenth house, Mr. Abbas established 134 committees.

Ado Doguwa, who resigned as House Leader to make way for Abbas, was given chairmanship of the Committee on Petroleum (Upstream), while Ahmed Idris Wase, a former Deputy Speaker, now leads the Committee on Federal Character.
Babajimi Benson is back in charge of the Committee on Defense, and James Faleke is still in charge of the Finance Committee.
