The House of Representatives has promised to rigorously monitor the rollout of palliative care initiatives in Nigeria.
According to NAN, House Spokesperson Rep. Akin Rotimi made the promise in a statement on Tuesday after President Bola Tinubu’s nationwide broadcast.
The statement claims that the house is pleased with Tinubu’s announcement of measures to mitigate the negative economic repercussions of the subsidy’s elimination.

According to the statement, many Nigerians were upset after the subsidy was cut off but before relief measures were put in place.
It hoped the President’s declared programs and initiatives would be moved quickly to help the people.
I promise all Nigerians that this chamber will be vigilant in its duty to oversee the implementation of all palliative measures by all government agencies.
To guarantee prompt delivery, fair distribution, and openness, the House of Representatives promised to “closely monitor every agency of government that will be involved in the implementation.”
Tinubu’s proposal to change the 2022 Supplemental Appropriations Act was adopted by the House on July 13, according to the statement.
The modification was justified as necessary to free up N500 billion in emergency funds to ease the financial blow of the gasoline subsidy cut.
Tinubu’s efforts to help small and medium-sized businesses succeed have been applauded by the House.
The initiative to deploy three thousand commuter buses and collaborate with state governments to invest in vital social and economic infrastructure has been praised by the House.
“The coordinated actions would increase agricultural output, generate new employment opportunities, and enhance people’s standard of living.
In addition, “the house also welcomes the planned upward review of the national minimum wage and will consider and approve once transmitted to the National Assembly by the presidency,” the statement read.
