The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has disclosed that the 2024 budget is scheduled for passage on Saturday, December 30, 2023.
This announcement came as the House resumed plenary on Tuesday.
During the session, Abbas conveyed a message from the Committee on Appropriations to various House committees, directing them to conclude and submit their reports on budget defense by 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.

He also outlined that other budget-related activities, including compilation, processing, and harmonization, would follow.
The House had earlier suspended plenary on December 1 to focus on budget proposal defense, aiming for the swift passage of the Appropriation Bill.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had presented a proposed budget of N27.5 trillion for the 2024 fiscal year to a joint session of the National Assembly in November.
In his presentation, Tinubu emphasized that the 2024 Appropriation, themed “Budget of Renewed Hope,” aims to achieve job-rich economic growth, macro-economic stability, a better investment environment, enhanced human capital development, as well as poverty reduction and greater access to social security.
