There might be a bit of silver lining for Osaze Odemwingie after newly promoted Premier League side Hull City handed the 35-year-old a trial.
The Tigers are short of strikers and have handed the former West Brom striker a trial with a view to offering the veteran a deal.
Odemwingie was released by Stoke City at the end of last season and has been without a club since then.
He was part of Nigeria’s squad at the Fifa World Cup two years ago in Brazil and scored Nigeria’s goal in a 1-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in a group game.
The striker, who started out his European adventure at Belgian side La Louviere, also had a successful stint with Lille OSC in France before moving to England.
His sojourn in England has seen him play for Cardiff City, Stoke and West Bromwich Albion with whom he had a relatively decent spell.
Odemwingie’s career has been blighted by injury recently but he will look to get back on track. He is expected to play in Hull’s pre-season game against Mansfield on Tuesday as he seeks to impress the bosses at the KC Stadium.
