Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has declared that he is unmoved by criticism, emphasizing his focus on the development of the FCT.
Speaking on Friday at the flag-off ceremony for the design, construction, and furnishing of the office annex for the Body of Benchers of Nigeria in Abuja, Wike said he is indifferent to the actions and words of his detractors.
“As a politician, you must have thick skin. I have thick skin,” Wike stated. “I don’t even hear what people say. I don’t even see those who are saying it, and I can’t reply.”
The Minister outlined what he described as three critical attributes for politicians:
“One, he can’t see. Two, he can’t talk. Three, he can’t hear. So, whatever they are saying, you don’t even hear.
Those who are saying it, you don’t even see. And because I can’t talk, I cannot reply.”
Wike reiterated his commitment to delivering on his mandate, saying, “I will go ahead and continue to do my work for the best of the country. That is all I can do.”
The Minister’s remarks come amid ongoing public scrutiny of his administration’s policies and decisions.
