OC Ukeje has revealed a shocking detail about his acting career when he mentioned that he once got aroused while shooting a romantic movie scene.
Ukeje made the confession in an interview with Punch News, which was published on Saturday, August 13, 2016.
According to the actor, the incident happened while he was kissing an actress who he admitted he was dating at the time.
He gave no assurances that it couldn’t have occurred with a different cast, but insists that he had learnt to control himself over time, reminding himself that it was just acting.
“It has happened to me before that I was moved when acting a romantic scene but when it happened, I was involved with the actor in real life.”
“I cannot speak for other films I am going to do later. You can find a girl super attractive and when you guys are kissing, blood starts flowing south ward. But I generally just try to remember that it is a job and I do what I have to do and leave the place.”
“Fortunately it has worked for me so far apart from the one time that it happened.”
Speaking about the impact his acting has had on his marriage, Ukeje mentioned that he is married to an understanding woman who has shown him great support.
Despite this, he has made sure that not to go out of line in his career.
“I have the responsibility of making sure that whatever I do is tasteful because what we are doing is not easy for our spouses.”
“It is important to make sure that anything you are doing is tasteful enough so that whoever sees it likes what it looks like and that is what your wife gets to see.”
“That it also adds to the story is important otherwise it would be an excuse to be kissing in films. My wife has been very supportive and I don’t think she has frowned at any one yet. I am just a lucky guy”, he said.
OC Ukeje is an actor who came to limelight after winning in the fifth season of the Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO) reality television show in 2009.
This propelled him to become one of the elite actors in Nollywood, with appearances in the adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie’s “Half of the Yellow Sun” novel.
He featured alongside British-Nigerian actor, Chinwetel Ejiofor and Thandie Newton.
