Barcelona legend, Gerard Pique has come out to speak on whether or not Lamine Yamal would make it into the club’s legendary treble winning team. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, with players like Messi, Villa and Eto’o being certified legends for playing in Barcelona’s greatest teams, Yamal is definitely competing with several top players for a spot.

Pique added that the current players will have earn a place in the club’s best teams with their talent and desire.
His words, “In my Barca? I was there for many years and I played for several Barcelona teams, but if you’re referring to the team that won the treble, the sextuple, well, that’s where our Barca was very, very Barca.
I’d say one of the best teams in history. I don’t know… I’d say very few. In our Barca there were great players. It’s true that it’s a shame not to have a Lamine, a [Pau] Cubarsi or a Raphinha who are now at a great level, but of course in that Barca in those positions, there was Messi, or [Carles] Puyol or whoever, [David] Villa, Henry or [Samuel] Eto’o.
We’re talking about very, very top players. I think that those who are there now have to earn it to be in that team, that they can be sure of it because of talent and desire, but they still need to be able to win big titles.”
WOW.
Futbol Club Barcelona is a professional football club based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, that competes in La Liga, the top flight of Spanish football.
Founded in 1899 by a group of Swiss, Catalan, German, and English footballers led by Joan Gamper, the club has become a symbol of Catalan culture and Catalanism, hence the motto “Més que un club” (“More than a club”). Unlike many other football clubs, the supporters own and operate Barcelona. It is the third-most valuable sports team in the world, worth $5.51 billion, and the world’s fourth richest football club in terms of revenue, with an annual turnover of €582.1 million.
The official Barcelona anthem is the “Cant del Barça”, written by Jaume Picas and Josep Maria Espinàs. Barcelona traditionally play in dark shades of blue and garnet stripes, hence nicknamed Blaugrana.
In March 2021, Lionel Messi overtook Xavi’s record of 767 games played for the club, and presently has made 778 official appearances in all competitions, while also holding the record for the most appearances in La Liga matches for Barcelona, with 520.
