Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti has come out to insist that the club’s thumping 4-0 loss to Barcelona in El Clasico doesn’t reflect what happened on the pitch. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, Real Madrid just could not get ahead in the game before Barcelona took the lead, and his team clearly had more chances before the first goal.
Ancelotti added that he does not regret his gameplan, but taking risks against a good team was always going to be dangerous.
His words, “It doesn’t reflect what happened on the pitch. We couldn’t get ahead and they took the lead. The game, until the first goal, was very even and we had more chances. The formation was 4-4-2 and I think we did well in the first half.
On August 23, the team played without energy and today they did. The problem is that when you concede two goals, you take risks. It’s normal. Taking risks against a team that is doing well is more dangerous than usual. If we had scored [to make it] 1-2, it would have changed. There are problems that we have to solve. Today we had intensity in the first half and we started well in the second. But the goal changes everything. It is also a psychological problem, not a tactical problem.
I do not regret my gameplan. I have been in football for 48 years, so I’m not wrong when I tell you that the first half was good. It’s different from the loss vs Lille. We were very bad that day. We competed today.”
WOW.
Real Madrid Club de Fútbol, commonly referred to as Real Madrid, is a Spanish professional football club based in Madrid. The club competes in La Liga, the top tier of Spanish football.
Real Madrid has maintained the white shirt for its home kit throughout the history of the club. There was, however, one season that the shirt and shorts were not both white. It was an initiative undertaken by Juan Padrós in honor of an English team Corinthian F.C., which he had met on one of his trips, one of the most famous teams at the time known for its elegance and sportsmanship.
It was under Florentino Pérez’s first presidency (2000–2006) that Real Madrid started its ambition of becoming the world’s richest professional football club. The club ceded part of its training grounds to the city of Madrid in 2001, and sold the rest to four corporations: Repsol YPF, Mutua Automovilística de Madrid, Sacyr Vallehermoso and OHL.
Hala Madrid is a magazine published quarterly for the Real Madrid club members and the Madridistas Fan Club card holders. The phrase Hala Madrid, meaning “Forward Madrid” or “Go Madrid”, is also the title of the club’s official anthem, which is often sung by the Madridistas (the club’s fans).
