Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has told BT Sport that he still feels like a “20-year-old boy” and wants to play on despite his heavy workload.
No outfield player has started more games for United in the Premier League this season than 35-year-old Ibrahimovic and manager Jose Mourinho described him as “phenomenal” in a news conference on Friday.
The Portuguese said it felt “impossible” to drop the player, but that he planned to give him time off following the Premier League game against West Brom.
Ibrahimovic said: “You know what? I’m here to play and I want to play. As a football player, you get blind sometimes and have to listen to your body but, in my mind, I am feeling like a 20-year-old boy. I’ll keep playing.”
