Zlatan Ibrahimovic has said that he gets better with age — like red wine — and believes he could play at the age of 50.
The Manchester United striker, 35, took his tally for the season to 16 goals from 25 games in all competitions when he scored twice in the 2-0 win away against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
Ibrahimovic told reporters: “The older I get, the better I get, like red wine. You like red wine? I’m a perfect example of that.
“I’m settling in. I feel happy, I feel good. Even if I’m 35, in my mind I’m 20. I think I could play also at 50, but it’s not down to me.”
United manager Jose Mourinho said last month that Ibrahimovic, who has kept himself in shape with taekwondo, is set to be given an extension to his stay at the club – – with a second year after this one. After a mixed start to this season, the Swede has found prolific form recently, scoring ten goals in his last nine appearances.
Ibrahimovic added: “I’ve played in different championships, in different countries, and you need to adapt your body to the game and the way it’s played here.”
