Chelsea forward Victor Moses has revealed that he never dreamt of playing at the wing-back position but insists that he is enjoying every moment of it.
Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte first deployed Moses as a right wing-back in Chelsea 2-0 win at Hull City and since then the forward has impressed.
The 25-year-old scored in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Tottenham on Saturday, November 26 and was also named Man of the Match.
That was his second Man of the Match award in November as he was also named the PFA Fans Player of the Month award.
“I have never played that position before in my career, I never dreamt of playing it,” Moses told Sky Sports.
Conte switched to his favoured 3-5-2 formation after their 3-0 loss at Arsenal in the Premier League in September.
“In training the next day, I saw myself in a different opposition, am I playing right wing or right back,” Moses revealed his confusion.
“At the same time it was a lot of fun because I get to get a lot of the ball.”
“I am ready to play any position,” Moses continued. “I was a central midfielder (Crystal) Palace, it doesn’t matter what position I play as long as they manager believe in me.
“I have played as a centre-back, central midfielder, defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder, striker, and now a wing-back.”
Moses is finally enjoying his time at Chelsea after spending three seasons on loan at Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham.
The Nigeria international says it is all down to Conte who believed in him.
“I have had to wait a long time to get my opportunity at this club, and the manager came in and believed me, gave me the faith and I really appreciate,” Moses said.
“During pre-season, he saw something in me and thought I was very good and he gave me the chance.
When you get a manager that actually believes in you to give you the opportunity to express yourself and enjoy your football again is really important to me as a player.
“He came up to me and he was like ‘I like you as a player and I want you to stay, I don’t you to go on loan’.
“That gave me a lot of boost and confidence to even work a lot harder.
“I have always believed in the ability that I have got and I know I have something to contribute to this team.”
All three loans the forward spent away from Chelsea was under former coach Jose Mourinho and the forward insinuated that the Portuguese boss never spoke to him.
