Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the deputy governor of Ondo State, has asked the people of the state to dismiss a fake resignation letter that has been making the rounds.
There had been rumors that if Aiyedatiwa would not voluntarily quit, he would be removed from office in a covert conspiracy.
According to reports, powerful lawmakers loyal to the governor are urging the deputy governor to resign or risk impeachment.

After Akeredolu went to an unidentified German hospital, he acted as acting governor for nearly four months.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Ondo State deputy governor asked lawmakers and residents to ignore rumors of his departure.
Among the contents of his message is the following: “My attention has been attracted to a rumor of a putative pre-written resignation letter, signed by me, being distributed in the public domain.
As the duly elected Deputy Governor of Ondo State on a joint ticket with my principal, the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, I wish to state that I, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, have not, do not intend, and will not sign or author any letter resigning my position. We have a SAN and a CON.
To that end, I urge the people of Ondo State, the State Assembly, and the public at large to ignore the letter in question and to do so in the future as well.
