Mohamed Salah said he has not been “worried” by his recent lack of goals after he scored the winner in Liverpool’s tense 1-0 victory at Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
Salah ended a four-game run without finding the back of the net as he clinically finished in the 24th minute against David Wagner’s relegation-threatened side.
And the Egyptian’s 50th goal in English football handed Liverpool a vital three points as they keep pace with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
“I’m not worried, I’m not worried,” he told BT Sport when asked about his barren spell. “For me, the most important thing is the team. As long as I’m helping the team to get the points, I don’t worry.
“In the end, we get the three points and that’s the most important thing. I think we had to fight. We knew that before the game so everyone was 100 percent and we got the result.”
On reaching his half-century in England, the Premier League’s Golden Boot holder added: “It’s good, it’s a good feeling.
“As I said last season, the most important thing is to help the team get the points and now we are on track. So we’re happy with the result.
“We had like four or five players that started for the first time this season in the Premier League. But all of us are the same level, so everyone had to fight.”
The victory over Huddersfield means Liverpool have now equalled their best ever start to a Premier League season after nine fixtures.
Manager Jurgen Klopp admitted Liverpool were not at their best on Saturday, but continues to be pleased with the way his team keep picking up important results.
“It’s maybe the first period in my life that we are winning average matches,” Klopp said at his postmatch news conference. “That’s true.
“We cannot write a book tonight about how to win trophies. There is only one way, and that’s to win football games. And for that there are different ways.
“To be honest, sometimes I prefer the spectacular way, but I take that today completely and I understand why it was like that.
“I looked in the dressing room when they came back [from the international break] and saw them, stuff like the time difference, nobody asks, but you have to accept it.
“That was why I was a little more animated on the touchline today, because if you are tired then you at least have to be afraid of your manager.
“We played really good games, but in a different way. People compare us with the games we win 6-0 against I don’t know who.
