Veteran Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has shared why she cut off her colleagues in the film industry after getting married. The moviestar recently revealed that she blocked everyone in Nollywood for a full decade after relocating to the U.S with her husband.
Speaking in a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV, Aiyeola said that she made the decision to protect her marriage and avoid becoming a part of the trend of broken celebrity homes.

According to her, she apologized to her fans for her lengthy absence from the Nigerian film industry, but it had to happen because she held her marriage in high esteem.
She, however, stated that fans partially caused her long absence from their screens since lovers of Nollywood constantly say celebrities cannot stay married.
“I was off the scene for more than ten years, and I apologised to my fans. I held my marriage in high esteem, so I blocked everybody’s contact in the industry.
Let’s appreciate our lovers because they caused it. Some of them will say practitioners don’t have stable homes or lives, but they don’t know what happens behind those relationships. So, because I didn’t want my own to be like that, I blocked everyone from the industry for 10 years,” she said.
The moviestar further noted that she unblocked everyone after returning to Nollywood because it is time to focus on herself.
Aiyeola concluded by saying that she sacrificed everything for her husband and 2 sons, so they won’t object her plans to rejuvenate her acting career.
“I unblocked everybody when I finally returned to focus on my career. I have two boys, and I have sacrificed everything for them. They should now allow me to also carve my own career,” she added.
