Ex Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard has come out to confirm that he wanted to sign Declan Rice and would have handed the midfielder the captain armband at Stamford Bridge. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, he saw Rice play football at West Ham and immediately concluded that he could be the captain of Chelsea for the next 10 years, even if the move never materialized.

Lampard added that he would not say why Chelsea did not move for the player in the end because it is hard to dissect other people’s work.
His words, “I wanted to bring in Declan Rice. I was like ‘this kid is going to be the captain of Chelsea for the next 10 years’. It didn’t happen, anyway, it is hard to dissect people’s work.”
