(Report from Federal Ministry of Power) In its bid to stabilize power supply in Nigeria, the Federal Government has again commissioned another transmission sub-station in Cross River state with a call on Nigerians to protect power infrastructure in their communities.
While commissioning the project in Calabar, the Minister of State for Power, Mohammed Wakil said the commissioning is the next in the series of completed transmission stations designed to expand transmission capacity of the power sector, all aimed at improving power supply nationwide.
The Minister reminded his audience that he had earlier commissioned three other sub-stations in Kano state, while several other stations are waiting to be commissioned in Yola, Kebbi and Lagos among others.
He said the new transmission sub-station in Adiabo, is very significant because it would feed transmission projects such as the one at the Export Processing Zone (EPZ), as well as improve power supply to Calabar Municipality and environs both in quality and quantity.
“The issue of low voltage as previously experienced due to the long distance transmission line from Alaoji to Calabar, has been addressed, he noted that improved power delivery would also positively impact on tourism industry and other commercial activities in the State.”
