Lazio winger, Pedro has come out to say that he is willing to return to Barcelona under the management of former team-mate, Xavi. He recently had his say while trying to explain their ongoing slump, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, if Xavi can reach out to him to ask for his services, he would definitely return to the club because Barcelona is his home.
Pedro added that retiring from football while playing for Barca would be a dream come true.
His words, “If they tell me and Xavi calls me, before he hangs up and regrets it, I’ll come. Barca is my home, that does not mean that I do not defend 100% the club where I am now [Lazio]. Barca is my team, it is very complicated for me to return, due to many factors, due to age, but I would love to. Retiring from Barca would be spectacular, but since I see it as far away and difficult, it’s something I’m not even thinking about.”
“Lamine Yamal, Gavi and Pedri have very good potential and talent and must form the backbone of the team in a few years. I have a lot of confidence in Xavi. He is a coach who gives everything, he has very good ideas of what he wants to do, which is to take Barca as high as possible.”
WOW.
Futbol Club Barcelona is a professional football club based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, that competes in La Liga, the top flight of Spanish football.
Founded in 1899 by a group of Swiss, Catalan, German, and English footballers led by Joan Gamper, the club has become a symbol of Catalan culture and Catalanism, hence the motto “Més que un club” (“More than a club”). Unlike many other football clubs, the supporters own and operate Barcelona. It is the third-most valuable sports team in the world, worth $5.51 billion, and the world’s fourth richest football club in terms of revenue, with an annual turnover of €582.1 million.
The official Barcelona anthem is the “Cant del Barça”, written by Jaume Picas and Josep Maria Espinàs. Barcelona traditionally play in dark shades of blue and garnet stripes, hence nicknamed Blaugrana.
In March 2021, Lionel Messi overtook Xavi’s record of 767 games played for the club, and presently has made 778 official appearances in all competitions, while also holding the record for the most appearances in La Liga matches for Barcelona, with 520.
