Ibadan, May 22, 2024 — An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan has ordered the remand of 46-year-old Mutiu Balogun in a correctional facility over the alleged killing of a 70-year-old man.
Balogun, whose address was not provided, faces a charge of murder. Magistrate Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair did not take his plea due to lack of jurisdiction.
She directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice. The case was adjourned until June 25 for mention.

Prosecutor Inspector Oladejo Balogun informed the court that the offence occurred on May 16 at about 1:30 p.m. in the Mokola area of Ibadan.
The defendant allegedly caused the death of the victim, identified only as Yekini, by hitting him on the chest with his fist.
The offence contravenes Section 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
