Recent conflicts between the Ifon and the Ilobu have prompted calls for all parties involved to prioritize communication as a means to end the conflict.
National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ajibola Basiru issued the following statement.
In a statement, Basiru expressed his disapproval of the violence that has cost so many lives and so much property.

He went on to express his sympathy and solidarity with the victims.
There has been a buildup of tension that has given rise to a fire, and I am appealing to traditional rulers, local leaders, community elders, and the government to put out the fire as soon as possible.
Peaceful negotiations, the implementation of conflict resolution processes, and constructive dialogue are all ways that I believe the warring communities in Osun State may find common ground and create sustainable peace for the entire state.
“It is our collective responsibility to come together as citizens, set aside our differences, recognize our shared history, culture, and norms to build stronger communities, foster physical and economic growth, and secure a better future for the coming generation,” he said.
The APC National Scribe also urged the media and civil society organizations to play a role in fostering peace by disseminating messages of understanding, unity, and optimism.
I’d like to reaffirm that pursuing peace in Ifon and Ilobu is a priority of mine, and that I’m willing to collaborate with others to achieve this goal.
“I also call on all and sundry to join in the endeavor for a more harmonious and prosperous Osun State,” he said.
