Igboho Urges Iru Ekun Volunteers to Remove Criminals From Southwest

Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has urged members of the Iru Ekun volunteer group to intensify efforts to rid the South-West of criminals.

Igboho gave the charge while addressing members of the group, stressing the need for communities across the region to remain vigilant and take the security of their areas seriously.

He said the objective should be to ensure that criminals and individuals threatening the safety of residents are prevented from operating freely in the South-West.

Igboho urged the volunteers to work with relevant security agencies and community leaders rather than taking the law into their own hands.

He stressed the importance of intelligence gathering and timely reporting of suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.

According to him, protecting communities requires cooperation among residents, traditional institutions, local organisations and formal security agencies.

Igboho also called for greater unity among people in the South-West, arguing that collective vigilance would help strengthen security and protect residents from criminal elements.

He maintained that the activities of criminal groups should not be allowed to undermine economic and social activities across the region.

The call comes amid persistent concerns over kidnapping, banditry and other forms of criminality in parts of the South-West, with communities and security agencies exploring additional measures to improve local security.

Igboho’s appeal to the Iru Ekun volunteers adds to growing calls for community participation in tackling insecurity, although such efforts are expected to remain within the framework of the law.

He urged the volunteers to remain disciplined and focused on protecting lives and property, stressing that security efforts would be more effective when carried out through lawful cooperation with established security institutions.
