Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo, continued his superb scoring run for Watford in the English Championship by scoring a couple of goals in his side’s 3-0 win over Rotherham United on Tuesday.
.
The former Udinese man scored his goals, which sandwiched that of Troy Deeney, inside the hour mark to help his English club stay within playoffs in the standings.
.
Ighalo with his first real chance of the match held at Vicarage Road scored. The 25-year-old pounced on a chance and calmly finished off with his left foot past Rotherham goalkeeper Adam Collin for the opening goal of the contest in the 16th minute.
.
Much was not seen of Ighalo in the first half until a minute before the break when he skied a left-footed effort from outside of Rotherham’s box over the bar.
.
In the 54th minute, Deeney doubled Watford’s lead and two minutes later, it was Ighalo who put the game beyond Rotherham with a right-footed strike from close range.
.
The goal was Ighalo’s last major contribution to the game as he was substituted by Watford manager, Slavisa Jokanovic, and Matej Vydra took his place.
.
The Nigerian got a standing ovation as he made way with a quarter of an hour to play.
.
Ighalo has now scored 17 league goals for The Hornets this term.
.
Interestingly, Ighalo has scored more league goals – 13 – in 2015 than any other player in the top four tiers of the English league.
