The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has issued a vehement condemnation of the recent violent bank robbery that occurred in Otukpo, Benue State.
As a result of the heinous crime, a number of law enforcement officers as well as innocent citizens were tragically killed.
In a statement that he signed on Saturday, Egbetokun said that the act of violence is an assault on the principles of peace, security, and justice that the Nigeria Police Force and other security services fight so hard to defend.

In addition, he issued orders for the deployment of additional investigative and operational assets and resources to Otukpo, the Benue State Police Command, and the states that are nearby in order to aid in the rapid capture of the criminals who were guilty for the atrocity.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) stated that the Nigeria Police Force has launched a thorough and coordinated effort to bring the perpetrators of this terrible act to justice.
The IGP added that two suspects were gunned down by security personnel while attempting to escape, and he averred that the Nigeria Police Force has initiated this endeavor.
Egbetokun offered his most sincere condolences to the relatives of the victims who had been impacted by the violence.
At the same time, he urged the general public to maintain their composure and work together with the police by providing information that could assist in the investigation and the arrest of the offenders.
