Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has hailed his team’s defensive effort against Aston Villa. This comes after Barca ran out 3-0 winners in the Champions League at Camp Nou, and fans have been reacting.
Hailing Barcelona‘s clean sheet performance despite being without key defenders for the match, Flick stated that he is proud of his players for coping well against a strong Villa attack.
The German coach added that Yamal deserved his goal because his team’s pressing strategy forced the mistake.
His words, “The best thing about the match? The clean sheet. I’m very happy with that because we defended a very good attack like Aston Villa’s.
Of course, it was important. They are a great team. We defended well and we are happy with what we saw in defence. Everyone gave their maximum to finish with a clean sheet and we scored our goals. We’re pleased.
This is our idea how we want to play football. We try to press them very high, so that they make mistakes. We had this moment, were in the right position and we pressed them well, and they made this mistake and we used it.”
