Jose Mourinho has confessed he is “worried” about Fellaini’s contract delay.
Fellaini signed a one-year extension in January but will be out of contract at the end of the season.
Reports said in September that Mourinho was keen for the Belgian to agree new terms by the end of the year to prevent the midfielder from being able to negotiate with other clubs from Jan. 1. But with the little progress made since then, the United manager has revealed he is concerned.
Asked about Luke Shaw’s contract situation at his news conference on Friday, Mourinho replied: “I’m worried about Fellaini and not about Luke Shaw, because Fellaini finishes his contract and Luke Shaw doesn’t.”
Fellaini missed Tottenham’s visit to Old Trafford on Saturday with a knee problem.
He has missed the past four games after suffering a knee ligament strain while playing for Belgium during the last international break.
