The Labour Party has issued a renewed call to the people of Imo State to free themselves from the shackles of poverty and insecurity in front of the governorship election that will take place on November 11, 2023.
According to InfoStride News, the state of Imo has been plagued by significant insecurity for the past three years, which has resulted in the occupation of some areas by non-state actors, kidnappings, and the loss of several lives as well as properties.
On the other hand, the Labour Party is confident in its ability to return the State to a state of normalcy.

On Friday, the LP National Vice Chairman for the South-East, Chief Innocent Okeke, made a statement to the media stating that the electorate of Imo would take their fate into their own hands.
He stated that the party’s candidate, Senator Athan Achonu, was ready to deal with issues like as unemployment, insecurity, and the deterioration of infrastructure.
He claims that Senator Achonu has decided to address the issue of insecurity in the state by first tackling issues such as poverty, unemployment, ineffective law enforcement, political instability, and inadequate security infrastructure.
He made the following statement: “having identified unemployment as one of the major factors responsible for insecurity, Senator Achonu, according to Okeke, will provide youths access to capital and financial services, skills training, and support for entrepreneurial endeavors.”
The lack of safety in the state of Imo has been cited as a significant problem by Senator Athan Achonu, who has pledged to pay immediate attention to the issue once he is sworn in as governor.
“In order to confront the issue of insecurity in Imo State effectively, he has recognized the underlying causes. These include things like low wages and unemployment rates, ineffective law enforcement, political unrest, and a lack of suitable infrastructure for protection.
“Athan will adopt a holistic strategy to tackling these core causes in order to alleviate the problem of insecurity in the state of Imo.
According to him, poverty must be alleviated by generating employment possibilities and opening up economic doors for young people, as well as by ensuring that young people are actively involved in government.
“Law enforcement under Achonu’s administration will be strengthened by providing the security personnel with suitable training and the appropriate equipment.
“It is impossible not to applaud Senator Achonu for the importance he places on grassroots engagement and community participation. Senator Achonu is aware that the collective power of the people of Imo State is the key to the state’s success, and he acknowledges the importance of this factor.
