The Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticised Governor Hope Uzodinma’s recent State of the State address, describing it as misleading, lacking transparency, and failing to address pressing security and economic challenges.
In a press statement issued by its spokesperson, Lancelot Obiaku, the PDP said the Governor’s speech, delivered during his visit to the State House of Assembly, was “full of emptiness, uninspiring with old tales without positive future.”
The party argued that Uzodinma’s remarks merely repeated previous statements without offering new solutions or tangible progress.

“There was nothing new from his last address a year and a half ago,” Obiaku said. “He literally read the same script but an edited version bearing a new set of lies and make-believe.”
The party condemned Uzodinma’s claim that his administration had overcome insecurity in the state. Obiaku cited ongoing violence in areas such as Okigwe, Onuimo, Ihitte-Uboma, Owerri West, Oguta, Ngor-Okpala, Orsu, and Orlu LGAs, where kidnappings, terrorist attacks, and ritual killings persist. He referenced recent incidents, including the May 6 kidnapping of 26 passengers in Ngor-Okpala and the May 8 attack in Umuna, Okigwe LGA, which left over 20 people dead.
Obiaku accused the governor of ignoring the reality on the ground while failing to disclose critical information on state revenues and expenditure. “After spending over an hour massaging his ego, Gov Uzodinma did not tell Imo people how much has accrued to the state, both as federal allocation and internally generated revenue, or how they were spent,” he added.
Concluding, the PDP spokesperson described the address as a “mere jamboree” lacking substance and accountability.
