MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA and BOULDER, CO–(Marketwired – Jan 7, 2014) – SolidFire, the leader in all-flash storage systems for the next generation data center, will join leaders in OpenStack, storage and hosting services in a cutting-edge forum, “OpenStack: Breaking into the Enterprise” on January 29 in Mountain View, Calif. The event will be moderated by Research VP Lydia Leong of Gartner, Inc. and feature prominent industry experts from the OpenStack Foundation, Nebula, eBay, Internap, Solinea and SolidFire.
The forum will bring focus to the challenges and opportunities enterprises face around deploying OpenStack in the next generation data center. There is no cost to attend the Forum and early registration is recommended as seats are limited. The event and speaker interviews will be broadcasted live through SiliconANGLE.tv and available on-demand at YouTube.com/SiliconANGLE.
OpenStack has recently gained significant momentum and is quickly becoming the centerpiece of next generation data centers for companies like Comcast (news), eBay (news), and managed service providers like Internap (news). With proof points within web-scale and public cloud service providers, the enterprise is next on the horizon for OpenStack.
“The opportunity for OpenStack in the enterprise is significant. Today large enterprises are deploying OpenStack-based infrastructure and are seeing real benefits,” said Jonathan Bryce, Executive Director of the OpenStack Foundation. “Leveraging OpenStack to keep up with evolving computing needs to achieve new levels of flexibility, scale and automation is relevant to every CIO as they look to make the transition to the next generation data center.”
The OpenStack in the Enterprise Forum on January 29th is an industry discussion focused on the current state of OpenStack adoption, the benefits that enterprises are seeing from deployment, and the key technologies accelerating adoption. The Forum discussion will also explore the technological gaps and challenges that need to be addressed in order to realize the full potential of OpenStack in the enterprise.
Lydia Leong, a Research VP in the Technology and Service Provider group at Gartner, will be moderating the forum. Her coverage at Gartner is focused on cloud computing, particularly infrastructure as a service (IaaS), along with data centers, hosting, content delivery networks (CDNs) and Internet infrastructure services. Since cloud computing is reshaping the IT landscape, her research covers a broad range of topics related to the transformation of IT organizations, data centers and technology providers.
“We have been tracking the evolution of OpenStack since its early days and were initially encouraged by the strong support within the developer community. Importantly, OpenStack is now becoming strategic with adoption from big name enterprise customers like Fidelity and eBay/PayPal,” said David Vellante, co-host at theCUBE and chief research officer at Wikibon.org. “Customers today want cloud-like capabilities that solve problems, provide choice and are open. With more than 100 companies driving innovation, the OpenStack community has the potential to deliver these capabilities and become a leader in infrastructure management for decades to come.”
