The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Rivers State has announced the commencement of the third phase of the Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise across the state beginning Monday, May 11, 2026.
According to the commission, the exercise will run daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at INEC offices in the 23 local government areas of the state and will later be extended to registration area and ward levels on a rotational basis.

INEC said the exercise, which is scheduled to end on July 10, 2026, is aimed at providing eligible Nigerians who are yet to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, the opportunity to register, while also enabling registered voters to transfer or update their voter information where necessary.
The electoral body appealed to political parties, civil society organisations, media practitioners and members of the public to cooperate with the commission to ensure a peaceful and seamless electoral process in the state.
In a statement signed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, Johnson Alalibo Sinikiem, the commission called for support from all stakeholders.
“The Commission further calls for support and cooperation from all stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organisations, the media and the general public, to ensure a smooth and peaceful electoral process,” the statement read.
INEC urged all eligible residents in the state to take advantage of the exercise before the July 10 deadline.
