The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced its readiness for the rescheduled Enugu South state constituency rerun election, set for Wednesday, February 14.
Rex Achumie, INEC’s Head of Voters Education and Publicity Department, stated that the commission is fully prepared for the exercise, with adequate arrangements in place.
He mentioned that sensitive materials would be received from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in the presence of political parties and other stakeholders by 3 pm on Tuesday.

Achumie assured that the issue of result sheets, which caused the postponement of the initial rerun scheduled for February 3, has been addressed to avoid any mistakes.
He also mentioned that there would be effective monitoring and supervision, with top management staff deployed to ensure a smooth process.
Achumie urged voters in the eight polling units in the Uwani axis of Enugu metropolis to come out en masse to cast their votes.
The rerun election will see Emeka Ngene of the Labour Party (LP) and Sam Ngene of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vying for the 4,618 votes in Ward 5.
Emeka was initially declared the winner with 5,862 votes in the March 18, 2023, election, but the Court of Appeal ordered a rerun in the ward due to irregularities.
