The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to publicly display the personal particulars and academic credentials of candidates contesting the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections in Lagos State.
The commission said the exercise is in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act, which require the publication of candidates’ details to enable members of the public scrutinise the information submitted by aspirants.

According to INEC, the display will take place at its Lagos State office and other designated locations, where the nomination forms, academic qualifications and other personal particulars of candidates will be made available for public inspection.
The electoral body explained that the exercise is intended to promote transparency in the nomination process and provide an opportunity for Nigerians to verify the information submitted by candidates seeking elective offices.
INEC noted that any individual who believes that information supplied by a candidate is false may challenge it through the appropriate legal process as provided by the Electoral Act.
The commission urged political parties, candidates and members of the public to comply with the legal framework governing the exercise, stressing that the publication of candidates’ credentials remains an important aspect of ensuring accountability and credibility in the electoral process.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a transparent, free and credible 2027 general election in accordance with the Constitution and relevant electoral laws.
