The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Edo State has announced plans to commence the distribution of approximately 373,030 uncollected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) on May 27.
The state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Anugbum Onuoha, disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting in Benin on Thursday, regarding the upcoming Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
Onuoha explained that the PVC collection exercise would run concurrently with the CVR exercise, both slated to begin on May 27.

The INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, had earlier announced the commencement of the CVR exercise in Edo and Ondo states ahead of the governorship elections in the two states.
According to Onuoha, Edo State has 2,501,081 registered voters, with 2,128,288 PVCs already collected, leaving 373,030 PVCs uncollected.
The exercise is scheduled to take place over a 10-day period, from May 27 to June 5, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily, including weekends. Distribution points will be set up in the 192 wards and at the state headquarters of INEC in Edo.
Each registration center will be staffed by two officials, drawn from the commission and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Onuoha emphasized that PVCs will only be issued to registered voters in person, with no option for proxy collection.
He urged the media, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), traditional rulers, and religious leaders to help encourage voters to collect their PVCs.
The REC also announced the publication of the final list of candidates for the Edo governorship election, following the conclusion of the parties’ primaries.
