The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it will engage services of the Nigerian Air Force, Navy and other security agencies to ensure adequate security during the 2015 general elections.
Resident Electoral Commissioner in Taraba, Mr Austin Okojie made this known while addressing Batch B corps members at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Jalingo on Sunday.
“The commission is making arrangements with the Nigerian Air Force, Navy and other security agents to ensure safety of lives and property during the 2015 general elections,” said Okojie.
“We expect Nigerians to understand that the engagement of security agents to maintain law and order is to enable us to conduct free, fair and acceptable elections,” he added.
Okojie advised corps members who will be engaged as INEC ad-hoc staff for the elections, to be patriotic in their conduct of the elections.
Addressing corps members at the orientation camp, State Coordinator of the NYSC, Freeman Tumba commended the role of the NYSC members in the country’s electoral process, describing them as the best set of Nigerians to have brought credibility to the nation’s electoral process.
