INEC Urges Eligible Ondo Residents to Register Before July 26 Deadline

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ondo State has urged all eligible residents to register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) before the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ends on Sunday, July 26.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, made the appeal on Wednesday while monitoring the ongoing Phase Three extension of the CVR exercise across the state.

During the monitoring exercise, Agboke visited the INEC Registration Centre along Oda Road, Akure, St. Anthony RCM Primary School, Araromi Akure, and St. Stephen Anglican Primary School, Idanre, in Idanre Local Government Area, among other registration centres.

The REC stressed the importance of participating in the voter registration exercise, describing eligible citizens who fail to register despite being aware of the exercise as neglecting their civic responsibility.

“In Nigeria, we have a way of saying INEC has disenfranchised us. If you are aware of this campaign and willingly choose not to go, it is not the best for you.

“Another point is that you have deliberately disallowed yourself from participating in the coming election.

“One thing that makes you eligible to participate in the coming election is that your name and particulars are in the register of voters,” he said.

Agboke expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise in Ondo State and encouraged eligible residents to take advantage of the remaining days to register and collect their PVCs.

“I am assuring those who have registered and those who will do so before Sunday that their PVCs will be ready before the 2027 general election,” he added.
