The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has announced that Nadeem Anjarwalla, a Director of Binance, is being pursued by Interpol after escaping from custody and fleeing Nigeria.
Anjarwalla, a key suspect in a criminal investigation related to Binance’s activities in Nigeria, managed to escape lawful detention on Friday, March 22nd, 2024.
Idris emphasized that due to Binance being an international firm, efforts to apprehend Anjarwalla will be relentless.

The Office of the National Security Adviser has confirmed the escape and stated that collaborative efforts are underway with relevant agencies and the international community to locate and detain the fugitive.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Anjarwalla fled Nigeria using a smuggled passport. Security agencies are coordinating with Interpol to obtain an international arrest warrant. Meanwhile, the personnel responsible for the custody of the suspect have been arrested, and a thorough investigation is ongoing.
The Nigerian government, in line with global efforts, has been investigating money laundering and terrorism financing transactions on the Binance platform. Anjarwalla, a British and Kenyan national serving as Binance’s Africa regional manager, was under a 14-day remand order and was due to appear in court on April 4th, 2024, before his escape.
