The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused the Presidency and the Federal Government of committing acts of terrorism against its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
According to IPOB spokesman Emma Powerful, the decision of the Supreme Court to withhold the Certified True Copy (CTC) of its December judgment against Kanu is viewed as an act of terrorism by the federal government.
Powerful referenced Section 2 (3)(f) of the Terrorism Act to support this claim.
In a statement, Powerful stated, “The global family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by our indomitable leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu realized and immediately understood that the unlawfully withheld CTC in the case of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is released, confirming that Nigeria will not obey her treaty obligations; these justices, the presidency and the Nigerian entity are officially terrorists according to the laws of Nigeria.”
He further quoted Section 2(3)(f) of the Terrorism (Prevention & Prohibition) Act, 2022, which defines “act of terrorism” as an act wilfully performed with the intention of furthering an ideology, political, religious, racial, or ethnic, that violates international treaties or resolutions to which Nigeria is a party.
Powerful concluded that the federal government’s refusal to obey extradition treaties and the extraordinary rendition of Nnamdi Kanu are acts of terrorism, and the Supreme Court justices involved are being used as a “special terror squad” by the federal government to legitimize national terrorism.
