The new Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Taoreed Lagbaja, has been given the backing of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, who claims that Lagbaja will eradicate terrorism and banditry in Nigeria.
This was announced by El-Rufai on Saturday via his Twitter account.
According to him, Lagbaja inspires fear among criminal organisations like Boko Haram, bandits, and the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

“I am very familiar with the new COAS. My final GOC as governor of Kaduna State was General Taoreed Lagbaja. He is always the one to take the initiative and lead the way.
He single-handedly led the charge against bandits in Kaduna State. Similar actions were taken by him in the northeast and southeast. The members of Boko Haram, IPOB, ESN, and the bandits all know and respect him, but they also fear him. El-Rufai said of him on Twitter that he should be named COAS because he is the greatest candidate.
