The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have issued a stern warning to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), demanding improved power supply in the Southeast region or face eviction.
In a statement signed by IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, the group accused EEDC of defrauding Southeast residents through excessive billing and an unreliable estimated billing system.
IPOB has threatened to close down EEDC offices in the Southeast if the electricity supply situation does not improve. The statement emphasized the need for EEDC to provide adequate electricity or make way for more efficient companies.

According to the statement, EEDC’s billing practices have been exploitative, with communities receiving exorbitant bills despite inconsistent power supply.
The group also highlighted instances where communities had to purchase their own transformers and cables but were still billed by EEDC for power supply.
IPOB expressed frustration over EEDC’s failure to return faulty transformers for repairs, leaving some communities without power for years.
The group condemned EEDC’s actions as exploitation and called for an end to such practices.
IPOB’s statement concluded with a strong warning to EEDC, stating that if the company does not improve its services, the group will not hesitate to shut down its offices in the Southeast.
