Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie have been at the center of false tabloid stories ever since it was announced earlier this year that they’d be co-starring in a movie together.
Reports claimed that Pitt was ready to settle down with Robbie amid the two-year anniversary of his split from Angelina Jolie. The magazine said the actor wanted to get his life “back on track” by getting into a relationship with his co-star. Only, the actress is happily married to assistant director Tom Ackerley, so the premise was very unlikely. Meanwhile, reliable outlets such as “Entertainment Tonight” reported that Pitt “has taken a step away from dating” amid his custody battle with Jolie because he “doesn’t want to rock the boat.” It’s safe to say that pursuing his married co-star would be rocking the boat. The article was completely baseless.
Also in September, Websites debunked a Life & Style story about Robbie’s husband “keeping a close eye” on Pitt because he didn’t trust the movie star around his wife. As widely reported at the time, Pitt has chosen fatherhood over dating, so there was no reason for Ackerley to be worried about the actor’s motives. Regardless, a rep for Pitt assured us that Robbie’s husband wasn’t tracking him. The entire premise was simply ridiculous.
Websites also busted Life & Style in July for wrongly reporting that Leonardo DiCaprio called out Pitt for “flirting” with Robbie one the set of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Only, Robbie’s first day of shooting on the movie occurred after the tabloid’s article was published. Additionally, Pitt wasn’t even on set the day his co-star filmed her first scenes. The storyline was obviously fabricated.
In June, Gossip Cop called out RadarOnline for wrongly alleging that Pitt was “crushing” on Robbie and the two were “getting super close” on the set of their film. As noted above, the actress hadn’t even started shooting her scenes yet. The movie itself only started production a week before the phony article emerged. Additionally, a reliable source close to Pitt called the story both false and “entirely predictable.”
And finally, Gossip Cop corrected NW in April for falsely claiming that Ackerley was refusing to let Robbie work with Pitt in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood because he has jealously issues. However, reliable outlets such as E! News have reported that Ackerley is “very supportive” of Robbie’s career. The assistant director wasn’t preventing his wife from working on a high-profile project because a handsome leading man was also involved. The actress officially signed on for the Quentin Tarantino movie a few weeks later, disproving the tabloid’s story.
