Manchester United fans were tricked into thinking Marouane Fellaini was closing in on a move to Besiktas this week when he was spotted in Istanbul… before it was revealed a Twitter photo was of his twin brother instead!
The Manchester United powerhouse has been linked with the Turkish giants since the summer and is believed to be open to a move.
Fellaini was absent this week as United overcame Benfica in the Champions League, but it is understood he did not travel to Istanbul as originally rumoured on Twitter.
Instead, his twin brother Mansour – with a remarkably similar afro – was snapped in a hotel reception in Turkey, sparking a frenzy of tweets on social media.
Fellaini has been struggling with injury after spraining his left medial ligament on international duty recently during a 4-3 win against Bosnia.
His future in Manchester however was cast into doubt in the summer after the club signed Nemanja Matic from rivals Chelsea.
Mourinho began the campaign pairing Matic with the influential Paul Pogba in the centre of the park to great success.
United began the season with a bang, winning each of their opening games with sizable margins.
An injury-hit period however soon saw Fellaini come to the fore and rescue United and Mourinho in his time of need.
