IVAN PERISIC has told new Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti he wants to join Manchester United, according to reports in Italy.
Jose Mourinho is a fan of the Croatian winger.
Corriere dello Sport report the duo have already agreed personal terms over a £100,000-a-week contract — which is over double his earnings at Inter — and Perisic has told Spalletti he wants to go to Old Trafford.
A disagreement over the fee is holding up the deal.
The Nerazzurri are refusing to accept less than £44million, but United’s current bid is just £35m.
However, Inter need to bring in £26m to balance the books and satisfy their Financial Fair Play targets by June 30.
So United may be patiently waiting to strike a lower deal.
But, with Paris Saint-Germain also keen, they could be forced to speed the process up.
Spalletti replaced Stefano Pioli in the Inter hotseat — and immediately admitted he would not be convincing anyone to stay.
He stated his ambitions for the club and insisted that players would have to prove their worth to him.
However, Perisic has appeared nonplussed by this and is determined to join United.
It mirrors his move from Wolfsburg to the San Siro in 2015.
Perisic was determined to leave the Volkswagen Arena and join Inter — and he got his wish.
But so did the Bundesliga side, who held out for £14m plus add-ons.
