Four times MTV Africa Music Awards winner, 2Baba has torn down the rumour mill concerning his so-called beef with Nigeria national team and Chelsea FC football midfielder, John Mikel Obi.
Not long ago, a ‘rivalry’ between the pair had been a very hot pub story, in which the music star’s song “Only Me” became a tool for controversy.
It was alleged that the song is a diss track directed at the footballer.
2Baba, as he is now known has now cleared the air concerning the rumour.
In an interview on sports radio 88.9 Brilla FM, he had this to say,”I met John Obi Mikel for the first time at the MOBO awards two years before I released the song ‘Only me’, I won an award on the night, Mikel congratulated me and alongside P Square, D’Banj and Don Jazzy we all went to hang out together”.
He also said, “At the time I did the song, Mikel had issues with his inability to show up for certain Super Eagles games, then some very good rumour monger picked a line from my song as regards patriotism towards representing the National football team and ran with the story of a rift between us, I spoke with Mikel on the phone and we had a good laugh about it”.
2Baba described Mikel as a cool and quiet person, with a personality easily misconstrued for arrogance.
