Political parties and other stakeholders in Jigawa State have signed a peace accord ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The agreement is aimed at promoting peaceful electioneering campaigns and preventing violence before, during and after the elections.
The parties pledged to conduct their campaigns responsibly and avoid actions or statements capable of heating up the political atmosphere in the state.
They also committed themselves to respecting the rights of other political parties and candidates and resolving disputes through lawful and constitutional means.
The stakeholders urged their supporters to embrace peace and refrain from acts that could undermine the electoral process.
