The Jigawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to consider the advice offered by Sule Lamido, a former Governor of Jigawa State, for the unity and progress of the party.
In a statement released on Friday, the Secretary of the Jigawa PDP, Isah Bello, emphasized the importance of listening to Lamido’s counsel, especially in light of recent developments within the party.
The call comes after the PDP NWC criticized Lamido for his comments on the crisis in Rivers State.
Responding to the NWC’s statement, the Jigawa PDP expressed dismay at the unfolding situation in Rivers State and the intervention of President Tìnubu in resolving the dispute.
The Jigawa State PDP chapter expressed its support for Lamido, highlighting his role as a founding father of the party and his genuine concerns about the party’s direction.
The statement criticized the NWC for releasing a disrespectful press statement against Lamido and urged its members to consider his counsel seriously.
Furthermore, the Jigawa PDP emphasized the historical sacrifices made by elders for the party’s growth and cautioned against undermining Lamido’s contributions.
The chapter reaffirmed its commitment to fighting for the common man and justice, pledging to defend Lamido against unwarranted attacks.
The statement concluded by reminding the NWC of its primary role in serving, protecting, and promoting the party’s interests, urging its members to prioritize the unity and stability of the PDP.
The Jigawa PDP’s statement reflects the ongoing internal dynamics within the party and underscores the importance of addressing internal dissent to maintain cohesion and focus ahead of future political engagements.
