Ondo State’s Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is currently on medical leave in the United Kingdom and has been urged not to rush back to the country.
Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, who represents the Ondo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, issued the advice to the governor over the weekend, urging him to postpone his return trip and give himself more time to rest before returning to work.
During a phone call, the senator offered the governor his recommendation.

In a letter to the Ondo State House of Assembly, Akeredolu announced that he would be taking a 21-day medical leave of absence abroad, and that he expected to return on July 6, 2023.
The federal legislator drew attention to the approximately six-month long medical leave taken by former President Muhammadu Buhari and stressed the constitutional clause that empowers the governor to delegate responsibility to his deputy while he is gone.
The business tycoon told Akeredolu, “Your Excellency, Arakunrin, it is important for you to cancel the date of your return ticket and have a sufficient holiday.” You need to get plenty of sleep so that you’re fully refreshed when you go back to work.
You’re not a machine, Arakunrin; after seven years of nonstop service to the state, you deserve a good long rest.
Until you go back, the state government of Ondo will function normally. So, you shouldn’t feel rushed to go back.
